Benchmarks
The following benchmark tests are from National Agency for Finite Element Methods and Standards (U.K.), also known as NAFEMS.
NAFEMS publication TNSB, Rev. 3, "The Standard NAFEMS Benchmarks," October 1990.
The NAFEMS benchmark problems are industry standards. They define the geometry, boundary conditions, mesh and target results. Each of the benchmarks in this section are solved by multiple finite element analysis applications. The element type, order and number of integration points are given for each result. The input files are also given so these results can be reproduced.
Benchmarks have many purposes. They are validation problems for the solvers and elements for a specific purpose. A study of the results will give insight into element selection. Also, the models can be used by new analysts as example problems.
- LE1 - Elliptic Membrane
- LE10 - Thick Plate Under Pressure
- LE11 - Solid Cylinder/Taper/Sphere - Temperature Loading
- FV5 - Deep Simply Supported Beam
- FV52 - Simply Supported "Solid" Square Plate
